CCS/66AK2H14: Processor Obsolesces: 66AK2Hxx and TMS320C667x?

Hello, wanted to ask the community members if they had any guesses when the 66AK2H1x family or the TMS320C667x family will start going obsolete? I believe the TMS320C667x appeared on the market around 2011 and the 66AK2H1x appeared sometime later. Obsolesces is a battle that many designers face and if one was going to do a new design today which family of processors have the longest longevity? Does anyone know which processor in either family is the post popular? Usually, the most popular devices hang around longer. How does one find out which processor are the most sold?

Hi Joe,

These devices stay in production at least 10 years (I think this is the minimum for this class of processors) and when they go obsolete they will have support for at least 10 more years.

I am looping the design team to confirm this.

Just to note, product longevity is important to TI and our customers. Our products are sold to a wide variety of customers and used in a wide range of applications with expected long production lifetimes, including in industrial, medical, and automotive applications.

We make an effort not to obsolete products for convenience and are dedicated to meet customer needs and, as such, we employ strategies such as inventory management and multiple sourcing tactics to address continuity.

How popular are the TMS320C667x family and the 66AK2Hxx family? Is there any data that shows the demand for these processors? That is the question my management is asking me.
