TLC271A: "ACTIVE" component?

Part Number: TLC271A

In PCN#20170310000, TLC271ACP is identified as "to be discontinued". and today, it's an "ACTIVE" component.

I would like to know if it is an under production component or if it is an on stop component?

We need to know to our components database

    Hello Miquel,

Thanks for your question and welcome to the forum!

I have pulled up a PCN#20170310000 document, but do not see any mention to the TLC271ACP being discontinued.  Perhaps we are not looking in the same spot.

I am going to send you an e2e friendship request.  Please accept this request.  We can then continue this discussion privately via email.

    Regards,

    Daniel

  • Hello Daniel;

    Hello Miquel,

I have looked into the document and do not think you need to worry.  The purpose of the PCN is to alert the customer to a change in the device's material set as shown below.  It also suggests that you will not have IC performance degradation.  Is there a section of the PCN that concerns you?

From looking up other threads regarding roughened lead frames on e2e, it seems that this type of lead frame may even provide for better solderability.  You can read more about it here.

You can learn more about our product life cycle policy and our PCN policy on ti.com.  Please let me know if you have further questions.

    Regards,

    Daniel

  • Hi Daniel and thank you for all that you make for me.

In fact, my problem is this part of the PCN

I don't understand why is there another document for the PCN#20170310000.

On this PCN, we can read:

"The devices listed on this page are a subset of the complete list of affected devices. According
to our records, these are the devices that you have purchased within the past twenty-four
    (24) months. The corresponding customer part number is also listed, if available."

And because of this: we are in trooble in production :'-(

    Is there an error?

  • Hi Miquel,

where do you read the phrase "to be discontinued" in the document?

As Daniel already discussed and as can be clearly read in the document this is just the announcement of a change of the assembly materials of certain chips. And the document clearly states: "This notice does not change the end-of-life status of any product.":

    Kai

  • Ok Kai. And thank you very mush.

As  suggested, this is not an end-of-life announcement for the product. We only have underqualified staff to monitor the obsolescence of our components ...

I would like to sincerely thank you both for your insight into the problem.
Looking forward to dealing with people as caring as you in the future.

  • You are welcome :-)
