LM311: Difference between LM311, -N and -M.

The LM311 is made by TI.
The LM311-N was originally made by National Semiconductor.

LM311D is the orderable part number of the LM311 in the SOIC package.
LM311M is the orderable part number of the LM311-N in the SOIC package.

What voltage, speed, and drive strength do you need?

Customer would like to use it for the alternatives of uPC311/Renesas.

I thought that the LM311 is the best device for it.

Do you have other recommendation?

The uPC311 is a clone of the LM311(-N); both can be used as replacement.

Other devices might have better electrical characteristics, but not are pin-to-pin compatible.
