the oscillation of VCA810

Other Parts Discussed in Thread: VCA810

I was so confuced about the ocsillation of VCA810,i read the datasheet again and again, but i could not find the solution.

i used followed schematic ,but i adjusted  the gain control vc above -1.2(about 8 dB),the IC   oscillated.someone told that i should use cascaed VCA810 because the VCA810 easily oscillated. But i think that the gain is not so high,it can not result in oscillating. so please give me a help, thank you very much!

  • Hello Chao,

For oscillation in the VCA810, I would look at the lenght of the trace on the inputs.  I am not aware of oscillation on the VCA810, but its predecessor, the VCA610 (now obsolete) was more prone to this.

Minimize the distance from the terminating resistance to the input of the VCA810.  If it is impossible to bring the termination closer, you may want to consider inserting a 50ohm to 100ohm in series on both the inverting and non-inverting inputs.

    Best  regards,
