INA237-Q1: several questions about the calculations

Part Number: INA237-Q1

Hello, I have several questions about the calculations

Q1. we curious about the difference between V_VBUS, V_BUS

Seems like V_BUS is measured Bus voltage, and V_VBUS is voltage input to the VBUS pin

Is it correct?

Q3. We wonder about the method for calculate current.

As we understand, current [A/LSB] = V_shunt / Shunt_cal

But please can you describe little bit more specifically?

Thank you,

Lee

  • Hello Lee,

Thank you for using the TI forum. Here are my responses to your questions:

    1) Yes, your understanding here is correct

    2) The 0.2 multiplier does not specifically reference a voltage, but instead is a conversion factor for the LSB size based on internal calculations and register size limits.  The 0.2 does not change with ADCRANGE, as any needed change from ADCRANGE gets taken care of with the change to the SHUNT_CAL register.

    3) Current is calculated based off of the Vshunt register. SHUNNT_CAL is used to give the internal calculations both the Rshunt value and a desired current LSB.
