LMH2120: Dynamic Range of LMH2110 and LMH2120

Part Number: LMH2120
Other Parts Discussed in Thread: LMH2110,

Hello,

The datasheet indicates that the dynamic range of the LMH2110 is 45dB and that of the LMH2120 is 40dB.

However, comparing the voltage slope graphs below, the LMH2120 appears to have a wider dynamic range than the LMH2110.

Could you explain the difference in dynamic range between the two products?

                                    LMH2110                                                                                                  LMH2120

Thank you.

  • Hello JH Shin,

You are right, at 1900MHz LMH2120 has more dynamic range than LMH2110. In the data sheet header Dynamic range of 40/45dB means the detection range. However, Dynamic range is typically defined as Input Power range over which conformance error is < 1dB. It also varies with frequency of operation. You need to refer to Electrical characteristics table in data sheet to accurately estimate Dynamic range at each frequency band. Below are the values for 1900MHz:

You can also measure same from the error plots:
