INA851: INA851

Part Number: INA851
Other Parts Discussed in Thread: INA215

Hi,

can you please recommend a alternate part for the part "INA851" with singly supply  5V range.

  • Hi Nandhini,

I assume this query is related to the shunt measurement question on the post below:

    https://e2e.ti.com/support/amplifiers-group/amplifiers/f/amplifiers-forum/1208778/ths4551-ths4551?tisearch=e2e-sitesearch&keymatch=ths4551%20ina851#

Currently, the INA851 is the only instrumentation amplifier with fully-differential output.  As you have mentioned, the INA851 will require +/- bipolar supplies when measuring a shunt resistor connected to GND.  The INA851 instrumentation amplifier inputs require a headroom larger than 2.5volts from the supplies.  The datasheet suggest to use the INA851 input and output range Calculator Tool to check INA851 the input voltage range.

We offer other instrumentation amplifiers that can work with a unipolar 5V supply, but these offer single-ended output, and therefore are not equivalent to the INA851.

Renan has posted your question on your behalf and should get back to you with details on the suggested circuit; if the application is limited to a +5V supply, then you can use a standard single-ended output current shunt amplifier that works from a 5V supply, such as INA215, and then follow with a single-ended to differential conversion stage using a fully-differential amplifier.  The example below assumes unidirectional current sense application.

    Thank you and Regards,

    Luis
