LM2903: LM2903 Vol question

Part Number: LM2903

Hi Team,

About the Vol spec of LM2903, DS gives the typical value chart, but only have max value at 4mA. Do you have the max value chart for different current? Or do you know the max Vol @ around 0.3mA?

thanks.

Best regards,

Yang

  • Hello Yang,

The curve above says it all. At about 12-16mA, the output goes into current limit.

From the curve above, at 300uA, the VOL will be 40mV at 125°C worst case. For margin, add another 15% for lot to lot variance, so 46mV.

  • Hi Paul,

"From the curve above, at 300uA, the VOL will be 40mV at 125°C worst case." -> From my understanding, this is the typical value, not the max, right?

For example, at 4mA, DS says typical @150mV and max @400mV (25 degrees). if you look at the curve, it gives you 150mV. So, how can you know 400mV max value from the curve? And it comes back to my question, what's the max Vol @300uA?

    thanks.

    Yang

  • Hi Yang,

We cannot share raw characterization data outside the datasheet limits in a public forum or with the customer unless they have an NDA . LM2903 was specified at VOL maximum 400 mV @ 4 mA at room temp, that is just what we only warranty for the datasheet limits. Below the current limit, the VOL is linear so what you can do is extrapolate by taking the maximum @ 4mA and then estimating what the VOL would at @ 300 uA. However, we cannot warranty this extrapolation but only the values at the 4 mA output current.

  • Hi Nguyen,

Understood. linear approximation makes sense and customer accepts it. thanks.
