TLV1805: SHDN absolute maximum

Hi,

I am confused with the absolute maximum voltage for the SHDN pin of the TLV1805. My understanding is that this comparator can be powered with +12V on V+ and -12V on V-.

The absolute maximum voltage seem to contradict the logic levels :

Can you please clarify?

Hello Oliver,

The SHDN pin has a maximum of 5V above V-.

In other words, the shutdown pin has a maximum of +5V above the V- pin. So even though it is a 40V comparator, the SHDN input pin can only go to 5V.

So you must ensure that the SHDN pin does not go more than +5V above the V- pin.
