LOG101: LOG100JP family differences

Part Number: LOG101

LOG100JP; LOG100JP-2; LOG100JP-3; LOG100JP-4; what are the differences for each device in the family? Package, Performance, Etc?

Luis Chioye was in a previous chat about the LOG100JP and seemed to know a lot about this part family. 

I know it is obsolete. I work for Rochester Electronics (franchised distributor for TI) and we are working with a major OEM to support a very old radar platform (Towed Array). 

They need to understand the part differences in order to ensure they purchase the right part from our inventory as their documentation did not provide the detail. 

The available data sheets I can find on line only reference the base part and the -2. 

No info on the -3 or the -4.

We have all four parts in our inventory and need to ensure they buy the right part.

    Hi Tom,

    As you correctly have mentioned, this is a legacy device was developed around 1981.  I support the logarithmic amplifiers in our portfolio, but have limited information specific to the LOG100JP since the device, now obsolete, precedes my time working in this team. I looked into our engineering database and some our legacy engineering records, and did not immediately found specific info on the -3 and -4 devices. Information is limited since these devices have not been active for some time.

    HI Tom,

    Based on the Legacy LOG100 datasheet, the 1995 Burr Brown IC Data book, and a 1988 Burr-Brown IC data book supplement, there is only a LOG100JP device where the package was changed from plastic to the 14 pin hermetic ceramic in 1995.  The pinout, model number and specifications remain unchanged.  From the device specification perspective, there is no indication of different versions of LOG100JP.

    The JP-x difference may be likely related on how the devices where packed in tubes, bags when sold. For example, the only difference I see between JP-2 is that it was available in Bulk (bag) while JP-1 is available in tube, but the LOG100JP devices are the same.  The legacy IC catalogs available, only list only pricing for LOG100JP and list no other devices.  The legacy datasheets found as far, only list one LOG100JP spec and one package.  For example, see below.
