ISO122: What version of VDE0884 is the device compliant to?

Hello,

The datasheet mentioned that the ISO 122 is compliant to the VDE0884 standard but does not mention what version (-05, -10, -11, etc.). Knowing which version we tested the device against will help them with their system level certification. Can you share version(s) we meet?

Hi John,

ISO122 is a device designed by Burr Brown that was released 30 years ago. The only mention of VDE I see in the datasheet says that it was tested a similar way for partial discharge, not that it is compliant to or certified by VDE. Unfortunately I do not have history on VDE's test methods going back 30 years.

If this is for a new design, the customer may want to consider the ISO224 (+/-12Vin, 8.5mm package) or AMC1411 (0-2V, 14mm package).

This is a old design they are trying to get certified to UL. Do we have any information about how the device would perform against IEC60747-17?

Hi John,

We'll be limited to what's available in the datasheet. The release team for this device is long gone. In the ISO122 datasheet we have below:

(1) Tested at 1.6 X rated, fail on 5pC partial discharge

If these voltages are extrapolated to the curve (it will shift down slightly) as shown in the AMC1411 datasheet I think it would be fair to say ~30years, but I'm not sure if UL will feel the same about my quick analysis.
