TLV9034-Q1: output current for MOSFET gate

Hello,

I want to use TLV9034-Q1 to drive 4 different MOS gates.

I want to use full range of output current available for sinking and sourcing (apparently 90-100mA according to datasheet), without any gate resistor.

Is this kind of design acceptable ? According to you, would there be a risk for the driver not to add a resistor in front of gate ?

The SQ4850 has a gate capacitance of about 1 nF.

The TVL9034-Q1's absolute maximum ratings forbid output short circuits longer than 10 s, and warn of damage due to heating. So you need to add a gate resistor. (If you need to switch quickly, add a gate driver like the UCC27517/UCC44273.)

Hi Mehdi,

I agree with Clemens. We do not recommend operating anywhere near the short circuit current limit. 1 nF cate capacitance right on the output of the comparator could continuously strain the output when it discharges and could eventually cause damage. We highly recommend a series resistor to limit the capacitor discharge current.
