Sir
I found no information in the OPA994 datasheet. As I know, some OPA built-in thermal protection to avoid permanent damage according to extremely high power dissipation generated.
For OPA994, could you please help confirm whether the thermal protection is also supported?
Thanks
Regards
Ben
Hey Ben,
I assume you are referring to something similar to this section of the OPA2991 datasheet:
Please confirm.
I'm not sure if this is included in the OPAx994 device. I found the following note:
Therefore I am assuming it does not have this protection. I will ask internally and report back.
All the best,
Carolina
Hi Carolina
Thanks for your confirmation!
Indeed, as you mentioned I found the feature of thermal protection in the datasheet of OPA2991. We may consider the OPA2994 as an alternative
simultaneously if the OPA2991 does not meet our expectation

Ben
Hey Ben,
Thanks for the ping, I will follow up with our team again.
All the best,

Hey Ben,
The OPA2994 does not have thermal protection like the OPA2991.
We have done some preliminary testing while shorting the output to the supply for a continuous 10 minutes.
There was no damage observed and Iq and Vos were the same before/after.
This is in no way a comprehensive/characterization tests and that is why they haven't been added to the datasheet.
If the customer would like to evaluate it in parallel with OPA2991, the limited sample data looks promising.
All the best,
Carolina
