THS7530: Single-end output

Hi team,

My customer is looking into this device but, they need single-end output.

The datasheet has an example diagram for single-end output with transformer but, the customer doesn't want to use tranformer.

Is it possible that we convert the differential output to single-end output by single opeamp like below application note, or the other way?

BTW, customer will use +/-2.5V supply and the output signal also positive and negative.

Hi Atsushi,

Using a configuration like the one highlighted in the app note can be a good option if the customer does not want to use a transformer. Given the supply constraint, there are a few things to consider for the second stage. Is there a bandwidth requirement for the application as well as a targeted Vopp the second stage is expected to output? These two parameters will affect the devices have available.

The output amplitude is up to +/-100mV and the signal frequency is up to 2MHz.

If the opamp stage divides the output of THS7530 by 15, the total gain fits to their target(x0.25 ~ x14).

Could you select a proper opeamp and, make a simulation circuit by TINA or Pspice?

Hi Atsushi-san,

Sorry for the delay, we have been having trouble getting the THS7530 to simulate properly. The problem is that the model is a relatively old architecture that causes issues under certain conditions. I was able to get a rough idea of what a potential circuit can look like however changing certain parameters can cause the circuit to show erroneous results. I got the simulation to work with our unity gain stable OPA656, however using a rail-to-rail output device like the OPA810 would be useful as your output range is extended similar to the op amp highlighted in the app note. I attached the TINA file below.
