VCA5807: Availability/Expected Lifetime

Part Number: VCA5807
Other Parts Discussed in Thread: , AFE5807

Tool/software:

Hi,

We’re designing an ultrasound product and were looking to use the VCA5807s for the fornt-end. We purchased three of the VCA5807EVM evaluation boards off digi-key about a month ago for integration into a proof-of-concept device. We just now went back to digikey to purchase a few more for an additional unit, and the EVM has been marked as obsolete. TI’s website however has no lifecycle information.

The VCA5807 chip itself is still marked as active both on digikey and TI. However the general stock levels across all the distributors, along with the 2012 date stamp on the datasheet are giving us concern about long term availability.

Would someone from TI be able to supply documentation that indicates the availability that TI is committed to? If on the other hand, the part is planned for obsolescence, could you advise on alternates for which we can be assured 8-10 years of availability?

We're aware of the AFE58xx series already but preferred the VCA5807 as we only need the CW path, and omission of the built-in ADCs reduces cost and simplifies the footprint from a BGA to a QFP. The AFE5807 would likely be what we move to if we're forced to, assuming it meets the required support period.

Thanks.
