AMC1200: Issues with AMC1200

Part Number: AMC1200

Tool/software:

I am using the following design to measure AC current:

The resistive values in the differential amplifier circuit are 15k, hence the gain is G = 1. This circuit should work according to the application notes, but the response I'm getting at the output of the filter, in the 'IOUT_MICRO' signal, is the following (This signal I should be obtaining should be a pure sine wave, since the load I've connected is a resistive load of 6A.) :

Replace R75 and R76 with a value of 0 Ohms and remove C55, but I'm still encountering the same issue. What could be happening?

  • I was able to solve the problem after reviewing your application notes again and analyzing my calculations. I realized that the AMC1200 was saturating and clipping the AC signal at the peak values. Theoretically, the 50mOhm resistor only allows me to measure up to approximately 2.5Arms, which matched the experimental measurements I obtained, as I could only read AC values up to 2.5Arms before the signal was clipped. This problem was resolved by using a shunt resistor with a lower value, around 20mOhms for currents of 7Arms and 15mOhms for current values up to 11Arms.
