OPA130: op amp with internal feedback routing

Tool/software:

A question about an op amp pkg.   

Note: the p/n OPA130 I used above is a dummy value.

Does TI make an op amp that has internal feedback pin routing as shown below from another vendor?  The pkg is a SOIC 8 pin.

The routing from pin 6 to pin 1 does not seem to be common at all.

    Hi Dennis,

    We do have several high speed amplifiers that have internal feedback routing (like the OPA817 and OPA858), but I don't believe we have them in SOIC packages. I'll move this thread over to the high speed team who should be able to assist you further.

    Hello Dennis,

    Thank you for reaching out about internal feedback routing.  As Alex mentioned, we do have products in our high speed amplifier portfolio with internal feedback routing.  These parts, such as the OPA817, tend to be our faster devices with GHz gain-bandwidth products.  As such, these devices are typically in QFN packages to accommodate parasitic effects and layout concerns with such high frequency operation.

    Would a device like the OPA817 work for your application?  If you would be able to share the competing device, we can assist with finding a good TI alternative.

    Hi Alec,

    I am not sure why I did not post the competitor p/n but it is the LTC6226 (more specifically LTC6226HS8#PBF) in the 8 pin SOIC.  It is on last time buy.  I am looking for drop in replacement with very similar specs.  Finding the internal path for feedback has been difficult as not getting this "feature" would cause a board spin.  I am trying to avoid that but may be forced otherwise.  Spec wise the OPA817 seems ok except for the noise and the pin layout is not quite correct.  My two main criteria are slew rate not being worse than the LTC6226, low noise (comparable to the LTC6226), and fits the PCB pads with no changes.

    Forgot to mention this:

    The supply voltage on the board is +/-5V.  One of the cross reference searches on the TI website showed the OPA856.   The pkg is wrong but the supply voltage is rated to 5.5V max so two strikes.

    Hello Dennis,

    Thank you for getting back to me.  Our OPA85x family devices cannot support 10V supply configurations, which does change the feasibility of internal feedback routing packages.

    An example of a device which suits the application but does not have internal feedback routing would be the LMH6624.

    If the mix of careabouts is to keep higher supply rails, meet AC specs for slew rate & noise, and keep internal feedback routing, there may need to be a compromise.  I will take a look for you today and see if I can find a better recommendation than OPA817 or LMH6624.
