MC1458: Issue with MC1458DR in TI lot number 3119627WDH, LOT TRACE CODE 35A4EGM, DATE CODE 2319+5

Hi All,

Regarding IC MNF# MC1458DR of sales order no# T05308893 isn't fully compatible as last order, causing our equipment don’t work stable, detail as below:

MC1458DR in issue batch has information as below:

1/ MNF: MC1458DR

2/ Qty: 2000 pcs

3/ Ship Date: Oct 4, 2024

4/ Buyer: TGPCB Electronic Engineering Co

5/ TI LOT NUMBER: 3119627WDH

6/ DATE CODE: 2319+5

We are using MC1458DR in a Telecom module which is in mass order many years. When using MC1458DR in issue batch, Telecom module shutter down after a while running. Which as same module, if replace MC1458DR of this order to last order, it work as well.

We suspects that TI has changed something in part# MC1458DR. so We need received TI feedback and confirm to have a suitable adjustment

Pls note this is very urgent case and make us don’t trust to use this part # MC1458DR

Pls survey and give us some info below:

The spec of this order and show the different with the item of the last order.

See PCN#20210720001.1 and PCN#20230627002.1, which introduced entirely new dies. The guaranteed datasheet limits have not changed, but it is likely that your circuit relies on characteristics that are not guaranteed or that are beyond the guaranteed limits.

It will no longer be possible to get old dies.

If you show a schematic and an oscilloscope trace of the input/output signals that are wrong for your application, it might be possible to recommend a replacement or how to redesign the circuit.

(There was also a marking change (PCN#20211123004.0), but that was not related to the die changes).

Hi Giang,

Clemens's comments are correct.

Per PCN#20210720001.1 and PCN#20230627002.1 notification, the process has changed, though the design and performance should remain similar.

There will be some differences between the changed process. I will be happy to take a look, make some changes on the existing circuit or recommend something similar (p2p compatible) in the same price range. Please let us know. If you have original schematic on this part, it will be good to send me a copy. Please send me "friendship" request, if you do not want to post it in the E2E public forum.

The new MC1458DR's marking seems to be ok. The logo may be represented by TI letter on line2.

The failure mechanism per your description seems to be a latch-up issue in the part. The best option is to return the order to your seller and get a replacement. The IC is used as inverting op amp topology in the circuit.

Could you confirm that the MNF# MC1458DR of sales order no# T05308893 is purchased from TI authorized distributor? If not, we are unable to assist you due to traceability issues (against counterfeit part).
