TL062: TL062CDR

Part Number: TL062

Tool/software:

Dear TI Support Team,

For years, we have been using the TL062CDR with Country of Origin (COO): Mexico without any issues. However, we recently encountered non-functioning units from a batch with COO: Malaysia.

We are aware of the PCN issued in 2023, but based on the content, it did not indicate any changes to the device's form, fit, or function.

Could you kindly clarify if there are any differences—other than the COO—that might impact performance or reliability? Any insights on potential causes for this discrepancy would be greatly appreciated.

Thank you for your support.

Irene Nah

  • The new die is an entirely new design and uses a different architecture. The function is the same, but only as long as you stay inside the datasheet's guaranteed limits.

The inputs behave differently when you go outside the absolute maximum ratings (they now have clamping diodes to VCC+), and the outputs are now rail-to-rail.

What exactly do you mean with "non-functioning"? Please show the schematic. What are the expected and measured behaviours?

  • Hi Irene,

Mexico without any issues. However, we recently encountered non-functioning units from a batch with COO: Malaysia.

Per the Clemens's comments, there are some slight differences between old FAB vs. new FAB. However, the op amps manufactured between two FABs are equivalent with the same functionalities. Currently, the TL062CDR with both COO may be shipped by TI authorized distributors. When the old inventory is depleted, TL062CDR with the new FAB will be shipped to customers (the old FAB process will be closed).

It is possible that designed TL062CDR circuit is tailored for an old Si-die's non-standard feature, which it exhibits different behaviors in new TL062CDR FAB. If you are able to provide the TL062CDR schematic, I can take a look and check it out for you.

If you prefer to present the schematic in a private manner, please post a "friendship" request via my ID and I can review the circuit and comment on it via E2E private messaging forum. I can also provide TI's internal email when a communication is established.

    Best,

    Raymond

  • Hi Irene,

I am going to close this query, since I have not heard from you.

If you have additional questions, please let me know.
