AMC1302-Q1: High Side Current Measurement

Part Number: AMC1302-Q1
Other Parts Discussed in Thread: AMC1302, TIDA-020018, AMC3302

Tool/software:

I want to perform high-side current measurement for a power converter circuit. My voltage level is +400 VDC. I would like to read it in an isolated way using the AMC1302. I could not find information in the datasheet about high-side measurement, but I saw in the TIDA-020018 document that it can be done. Is it possible for me to implement this circuit, and what details should I pay attention to?

  • Hi Feyyaz,

Yes, the AMC1302 can be used for high side measurements.  You need to keep the input common mode voltage limits in mind.  If you prefer not to have to design an isolated power rail for VDD1, you could consider using the AMC3302 instead as that part has an integrated DC/DC converter and powers the high side from the VDD2 source.
