USB2ANY: EasyScale™︎ Functions with USB2ANY

Part Number: USB2ANY
Other Parts Discussed in Thread: TPS61170EVM-280, TPS61170EVM-316

Tool/software:

Hi TI expert,

1) Does USB2ANY support th EasyScaleTm Functions.

2) We have to validate the USB2ANY for EasyScaleTm Functions. Does TI have any reference design or EVM kit with them user can quickly test USB2ANY EasyScaleTm Functions?

  • Per the API manual, it seems like EasyScale is supported. The TPS61170EVM-280 or TPS61170EVM-316 both seem like good options for validating EasyScale behavior. The datasheet also documents the protocol and its behavior to some extent.

Considering backward compatibility to USB2ANY APIs on a future USB platform, I haven't seen a device with EasyScale on it since 2014. Most devices which require that kind of programmability now just include an I2C or PMBus port instead. I'm confident that EasyScale has no users actively using USB2ANY - I think the only devices supporting EasyScale are using the USB-2-GPIO instead. I think you can safely skip replicating this protocol.
