PGA204/PGA205 TEMP RANGE CLARIFICATION

Hi ,

The minimum temperature stated in the data sheet for Operating, Storage and Absolute Maximum Ratings is -40° C for all three parameters.  This does not seem correct.  What are the correct temperatures?

Thanks for your help.

Regards,

John Wiemeyer

  • John,

It is a bit unusual that the specified, operating, and storage temperatures all have the same lower limit. Discussing this issue with a colleague here we believe that the storage temperature limit may actually be lower. However, because the datasheet limit is stated to be -40C, I cannot advise that it be violated. Therefore -40C must be considered to be the correct temperature for all 3 values.

  • Hi John,

I agree that minimum storage temp is generally lower than minimum operating.  But, should -40 deg C be the minimum temp in the Absolute Operating Conditions? Usually, there is some margin between the operating temperature range and the Absolute maximum Temperature range.

    Regards,

    John Wiemeyer

  • Yes, there usually is some margin between the operating and abs. max conditions but not always. Because this is an older product I'm not sure of the characterization circumstances which caused these values to be the same. Again, because TI only guarantees operation of the part to the specs in the datasheet, these have to be considered as the correct values.
