OPA454 shutdown operation

Other Parts Discussed in Thread: OPA454

Hi

I have a question about shutdown operation of OPA454.

(I did not find same question on E2E.)

1. Does the output of this device become Hi-Z if it is disabled by E/D pin?

2. Is it possible to connect to E/D pin from MCU (Vsignal_high=5V and Vsingal_low=0) directly without input resistor?

  • Hi team

    Could you follow this post?

  • Hamamoto-san,

The primary purpose of the OPA454 E/D pin is to reduce power consumption when when the amplifier does not need to be in operational mode. The output stage does not become an open circuit when in the shutdown mode and if a voltage is applied to the output pin it can sink, or source current depending on the polarity of the applied voltage. A current as high as a few milliamperes can flow.

If the E/D Comm pin is referenced to the same ground as the MCU, then it should be possible to drive the E/D pin directly from the MCU output providing the levels conform with those listed in the Electrical Characteristics table:
