Other Parts Discussed in Thread: PGA205

Hi

We want to know general usage of PGA205.

1. Pin 6 and Pin7 are Vos Adjust pins.

    How to use these pins?

2. Pin 1 and Pin 9 are Vo1 and Vo2.

   How to use these pins?

If you have a good reference design for PGA205, could you advise us?

Best Regards

  • Hello na,

    Please see my answers

    1. Pin 6 and Pin7 are Vos Adjust pins.

How to use these pins? The Voltage Offset Adjust pins are provided should one chose to externally adjust the voltage offset to a lower value. The adjustment is normally done at the system operating temperature. The OFFSET TRIMMING section on datasheet pages 10 and 11 provide an explanation of the function. The circuit connection using a potentiometer for the adjustment is shown in Figure 3. You do not have to use this function if it is not needed. Simply leave pins 6 and 7 open.

    2. Pin 1 and Pin 9 are Vo1 and Vo2.

How to use these pins? Pins 1 and 9, Vo1 and Vo2, respectively, are convenient outputs from input amplifier stages A1 and A2 should one need to access, or monitor, those output signals. In most applications they aren't used, or connected to anything external. One application where they may be used is for driving the shield of of shielded cables. This use is seen in datasheet Fig. 8.

If you have a good reference design for PGA205, could you advise us? I did not find any PGA205 reference designs when I searched the TI resources. The device is easy to apply and the datasheet Figures 1, 3 and 7 provide common uses and connections for the PGA205. If you have questions, we should be able to help.
