INA128 Over-Voltage Protection Circuit

Other Parts Discussed in Thread: INA128, INA826

All,

I am looking at the data sheet for the INA128 instrumentation amp and I had some questions about how the over-voltage protection works.

Could you explain how this circuit works?

Better yet could you send the schematic of this protection circuit?

Thanks,

Andrew Wiley

  • Hello Andrew,

I cannot give you the details of the over-voltage protection circuit design. Such information, if agreed to by TI management and the legal team, would require a non-disclosure agreement (NDA). Instead I suggest examining the I-V relationship show in Figure 10 of the INA128 data sheet. Note that the INA826 also has input protection of +/-40V. There is a simplified circuit diagram shown in Figure 58 that may be helpful.
