Do I need to get a license from TI to use the THS7314 in a circuit board and if so how do I obtain said license.

Anyway I was selling this as a circuit board/mod service to be used in amplifying RGB in SNES Minis but had the listing taken down by ebay.

I am trying to do the right thing and get/do whatever is needed but have no clue where to start. Ive talked to the TI customer service and have been directed to this forum. Any advice or direction would be much appreciated. For all I know the copyright complaint could be from Nintendo (ebay wont tell me specifically) but figured I would start here since I use the THS7314 in much of the things I do.

    Hi Kevin,

    You are asking if you need to obtain a license to sell a device that uses one of our products?


    Are you using your own printed circuit board, or are you reselling a TI evaluation module?

    Specifically if I need to know if I need a license to use my own printed circuit board (not eval or anything) that follows the schematics outlined in the THS7314 PDF file on this site.

    This is the board I am using currently.

    Of course the 100 ohms instead of 75 ohms is slightly different but basically this IS the schematic used in the PDF with some added s-video circuitry.

    Hi Kevin,

    I can't give legal advice and I am not familiar with the most recent EBay rules, but to the best of my knowledge there is nothing you need from TI to sell a product using our chips. We encourage people to use the reference schematics in our datasheets, so that should not be an issue either.

    I don't see an issue from a TI perspective. Perhaps you can find out more information from EBay.

    If you do get a specific response please post it and I can forward it to my legal department. I have never heard of an issue like this before, so I'm pretty sure it's not due to a complaint from TI.
