OPA2835: QFN vs UQFN package

Part Number: OPA2835

Quick question: is the only difference between the OPA2835IRMC and OPA2835IRUN the height of the package? They appear to have an identical footprint and pinout.

If I don't have height constraints, is there a particular reason to select one over the other? I'm a little confused why there are two P/Ns for what appears to be the same part other than height - in that case, why isn't UQFN the only package?

Thanks,

Peter Kazakoff, Starfish Medical

  • Hi Peter,

Yes, the only difference between the OPA2835IRMC and OPA2835IRUN is the height of the package with identical footprint and pinout.

If you don't have height constraints, then either one of them should be okay. They are the same part number with different orderable numbers due to their package style. Since, the OPA2835IRMC is 0.2mm thinner than the OPA2835IRUN, the former is referred to as ultrathin(U)QFN as opposed to the later being only QFN.

    Best Regards,
    Rohit
