OPA356: Biasing Circuit

Hello TI,

I am working on project where signal source has 1) 5KOhm source Impedance; 2) Amplitude 1.240577Volts Peak to Peak; 3) Frequency of 12MHz;

Now I want to drive the 50Ohm Load with Peak to Peak value 3Volts.

I am using 3.3Volt single power supply.

The circuit is simulated in Multisim as Tina-TI dont have OPA356.

Anyways I just want to know is their any biasing circuit require to achieve the given specification.

Circuit is attached.

Hi Suraj,

The OPA356 does have a TINA model and reference design that can be downloaded from the Tools and Software tab on the OPA356 webpage located here www.ti.com/.../toolssoftware

I noticed on your circuit that the input signal has an offset of 820mV. Are you intending to remove this offset so that your final output is 3V peak to peak centered around 0V?

I am removing DC using capacitor C1 and adding proper amount of DC offset using RBias1 and RBias2.
But my question is there any IC specific Biasing requirement for OPA356??

Hi Suraj,

No there are no other specific requirements to bias the OPA356 other than keeping the input and output common-mode voltages within range and not trying to drive more current than the device is specified for. The OPA356 is a CMOS device so it only has 3pA of input bias current, which shouldn't cause any issues.
