OPA2822: Minimum power supply

Guru 11170 points

Part Number: OPA2822

Hello E2E,

I'd like to use the OPA2822 on single power supply 5V. In the datasheet, does not to speced minimum power supply voltage.
Please le me know it.
It does not have to be a guaranteed value.

Regards,
ACGUY

  • Hi Acguy,

the datasheet mentions at several places that this chip will work with a supply voltage between 5V and 12V. Of course, the chip has some reserve and will also work at a slightly smaller supply voltage. But it's not recommended to decrease the supply voltage under 5V. The chip will work with a 5V regulator showing the typical output voltage tolerance, though.

  • Hi Acguy,

I see where the confusion can come from. This is an older datasheet so some things are in a different place from where they usually are. If you look at the features section on page 1 of the datasheet you'll see it says single supply operations of 5V-12V.

As Kai also mentioned we don't recommend using this device under 5V.

    Hope this helps.

    Best Regards,

    Robert Clifton
