Hello,

I need to measure 5 Amp. AC on 230V network single phase with about 50mohm.

No need to measure voltage or power. Could I use INA180XX or which part I should use .

Hello Abdullah,

Thanks for considering to use Texas Instruments in your design. How were you planning on placing your INA180 to measure the current? I am concerned that the common mode would be outside of the device maximum ratings. Could you provide a basic diagram of what you are wanting to do?

Hello Abdullah,

I presume that you are biasing your transformer output somehow. If not, you may risk operating the device outside of its common mode specifications. Also it looks as though you are trying to measure bidirectional current, which is fine for the INA181 but not the INA180. Based off of the frequency rate of your signal (50Hz), the INA181 has an adequate bandwidth limit and slew rate. As for your shunt, you may need to decrease it to 25mohm so that you do not rail the output. Below is a TINA schematic in which I believe shows that the INA181 can do what you want to do. In the second figure, I show the error you may expect over your current range. This tool can actually be found on the right side of the product page.

Hello Patrick,

Thank you for your answer and sorry for confusion.

Let me explain again I need to measure 0.05 ~ 5 Amp AC with less than %1 error at full range .I think It is not possible to achieve that with INA181 .

Do you think it could be done about 0.50$ cost .

You can advice me another family of Amplifier.

Hello Abdullah,

Hitting all of those requirements is a challenge. However, I think you can get close with the INA213. I highly advise INA213B or INA213C. Version B will help you hit your price point assuming you buy at least a thousand units. However, to hit your error requirement at full range, you would need to use version C as it has a better gain error and is also what the tool curve (below) is based on.
