Team,

How to solder the metal pad at the chip bottom to the copper pad on the board? I assume I need to draw an area that will have solder paste applied. If solder by hand, how can it be done?

    Hi Brian,

    They can certainly be soldered by hand, but you will need to have a heat gun available that can get hot enough to melt the solder. The best method I have found is to place a small amount of solder on the board's pad, heat it with the heat gun until it melts, and then place the part down onto the melted solder. Unfortunately it can be a bit tricky to accomplish.

    The other option would be to use a reflow oven with solder paste.
