INA200-Q1: INA200-Q1 output when negative load current

Hello support team,

My customer ask INA200-Q1 output when negative load current. Is INA200-Q1 output pulled down to GND with 300mV offset? Is my understanding correct?

Their load is bi-direction, however, they monitor positive current only and neglect negative current.

    Hello Koji,

    This is not the case and it depends on the Supply voltage and the Common mode voltage.  The INA200,INA201 and INA202 may not work as expected when the vsense voltage is below 20mV .

    Hello Javier-san,

    Thank you for your support. I already referred 10.1.4.3, however, there are no description for negative VSENSE. How OUT behave with negative VSENSE input?

    Koji,

    Depending on VCM and Vsense you can assume it does not get lower in voltage than when Vsense is equal to zero.  I would reference figure 32 or figure 33 depending on there condition.  Assume the part will not change much from the zero Vsense point.  The issue is that just like with Vsense equal to zero you will get a variation of output from device to device.  If you are going to use this for anything under 20mV it is not recommend.  

    Please take a look at INA293 or INA290.  They do not have the same under 20mV issue.  They do not have the same specifications but are similar.  They also do not have a comparator.

    Thank you for your support. Please let me confirm. does your answer mean that VOUT always keep around 300mV output with any negative VSENSE?

    Could you show max value of the spec? You don't need to guarantee, but they need it as reference information.

    Koji,

    The value is a typical specification for when VCM < 0.  We do not have a max specification for this value in that condition and I would assume it is close to the condition when VCM is between 0 and VS which is 400mV.
