INA226: Verifying I2C version supported?

Part Number: INA226
Other Parts Discussed in Thread: INA3221

Hello Team,

My customer wanted to verify what version of the I2C speficcation is supported by INA226-Q1 and INA3221? He is looking for clarification which version of I2C, 2.1 through 6.0

  • Hey Julio,

The devices are compatible will all I2C versions and limited by their own I2C characterization/specification in their datasheets. Version 3 was the introduction of Fast-Mode Plus. The INA226-Q1 and INA3221 have High-Speed Modes with clock rates maxing out at 2.94 MHz and 2.44 MHz respectively. The other versions seem to be changes to the user manual and how the pull-up resistors are calculated.

Either way, the devices are only compatible with I2C and thus, the speed and performance of the host needs to match with the current sense amplifiers.

    Sincerely,

    Peter
