PGA308: PGA308EVM Software on Windows 10

Genius 16055 points
Part Number: PGA308

Hello,

Does PGA308EVM Software support Windows 10?
My customer is trying to install it, but it doesn't work correctly with an error message.

Regards,
Oba

  • Hi Oba-san,

Do you remember what was the error message during installation?

When installing the software, it is important to run the installer executable with administrator privileges.

    1. Unzip sboc257b folder after download.

    2. Open the unzipped folder, right click on setup icon.

    3. Run the setup.exe as administrator.

If you still have issues, please search for relevant thread via E2E or Support and Training selection of https://www.ti.com/tool/PGA308EVM.

     https://e2e.ti.com/support/amplifiers/f/14/p/854907/3161558#3161558?jktype=e2e

If you encountered any execution error, please capture and post it.

    Best,

    Raymond

  • HI Oba-san,

Please ask the Customer to verify the following:

    1) Please verify all jumpers on the PGA308EVM and the USB DAQ board are in the correct.  Specifically, Can you please verify/confirm on the USB DAQ board that  JUMP3 is in the EE_ON position as shown below?  Please see the image below, with the jumpers highlighted in red.

    2)  When installing the software, it is important to run the installer executable with administrator privileges. You could attempt to uninstall the software and reinstall as administrator.  To uninstall the software, navigate to Control Panel -> Uninstall or change program and right click on PGA309EVM-USB and click uninstall.  To re-install the software with administrator privileges, download the PGA308EVM-USB software from http://www.ti.com/lit/zip/sbc256 and save the file on your PC.  Unzip the sboc256 folder, and navigate to the setup.exe file.  Right click on the setup.exe and select Run as administrator.  Follow the prompts to complete the installation.

If after setting up the jumpers, and re-installing the software with administrator privileges, the issue persists, please post a snap shot of the USB Communication problem popup you are getting.

    Thank you,

    Kind Regards,

    Luis

  • Hello Luis,

Thanks for your comment. I think EVM setting is correct because they have used the board with different PC and it worked.
But for installation, I'm asking it to the customer now,

The below is the error message when launching the software after installation.
Sorry, it is Japanese. It says "Error when executing '75', Invalid path"

And the software doesn't work correctly like the below.

    Regards,
    Oba

  • Hello,

My customer tried to re-install as administrator. Then it works well if they login as administrator account.
But when they login as non-administrator account, it shows the error message and doesn't work correctly.
Is there any way to work it with non-administrator account?

    Regards,
    Oba

  • Hi Oba-san,

It will not work. Error -75 from labview indicated that "Failed to make temporary DLL".

During the installation, the Labview will require to write or create files and folders in certain location in a PC. That is why the administrator account is required. However, once the GUI is installed, then you do not need to use administrator account for operation. Administrator rights are only applied during installation.

If your customer can use a lab PC, which it does not have an access to internet and internet security (does not have strict security, still personal with login ID etc.), then it probably is the best option.

    Best,

    Raymond

  • Hello Raymond,

    Thanks for your reply.
Do you mean it should work with non-administrator account after GUI is installed with administrator account?
    Have you actually tested it?

    Regards,
    Oba

  • Hi Oba-san,

You may ask Luis for the specifics. However, that is how Labview Installer is doing over the years.

    Best,

    Raymond
