AMC1200: data sheet clarification

Genius 12760 points
Part Number: AMC1200

From my point of view there is a misunderstanding in the data sheet of AMC1200B mentioned above.

- Vcm  = -160mV, regarding Vdd1
- Vinp = +-320mV but the actual measuring range +-250mV

Is it now that:

- Maximum +-160mV is to be used as HighSide measuring input?

Also in the datasheet the VINN is connected directly to ground, so the negative input to V-COM should be -160mV?

Can you please clarify?

Regards,
Bernd

  • Hi Bernd.

+/-250mV is the differential input voltage range that produces a linear response on the output. From +/-250mV to +/-320mV, the device will continue to produce an output voltage dependent on the input voltage, however the performance will not be within the specifications of the datasheet. Beyond +/-320mV, the output are clipped.

Vcm is the common mode input voltage, meaning (VINP + VINN)/2. This is with respect to GND1.

    So the common-mode input voltage range is from -0.16V to VDD1 w.r.t GND1. If VINN = GND and VINP = -320mV, (-320mV + 0V)/2 = -160mV = 0.16V.

Typically, VINN is tied to GND as you indicated and VINP swings +/-250mV around VINN.
