OPA388: OPA388 close loop gain

Part Number: OPA388
Other Parts Discussed in Thread: OPA2182, OPA182

Dear team,

Customer has a requirement, I recommend OPA388 but customer think the close loop gain @ G=100 is small. So do we have similar zero-cross, zero-drift amplifier but with higher close loop gain when G=100?

They need measure signal with several mV and several us.

Thanks.

Best regards,

Sammi

  • Hi Sammi,

Anything beyond about 132dB is unmeasurable. Why would you care at a gain of only 100?

To put it in perspective, 120dB is 1uV/V, 132dB is 0.25uV/V, swinging the max 5V of an OPA388 amounts to about 1uV worst case.  Going a few more dB is already under the noise floor of the device.

I found OPA2182 or OPA182 per your request, but I am not sure that it will help you in any way. The suggested high open-loop gain is obtained in circuit simulation.

If your customer is talking about 1uV noise rejection, OPA388 seems to be adequate.

    Best,

    Raymond
