OPA227: OPA227U maximum power dessipation

Part Number: OPA227

Hi team

Good day!

Our customer want to know :

OPA227U maximum power dessipation

could you please help this?

Thank you so much!

  • Hi Aosker,

    Q: OPA227U maximum power dissipation

Without the actual schematic, I will estimate the max. DC power dissipation (also depending on the IC packages, Voltage rails and Tamb operating temperature etc.). For AC power dissipation, you have to derive the average power of the op amp.

If I use output short-circuit figure (continuous per amp) at 45mA, then the max. power dissipation is approx. (45+8.4mA)*15 = 0.80W --> with this figure, the op amp's junction temperature is approx 110.1C/W*0.80 + 25C = 113C (continuous operation).

If I use junction to ambient thermal resistance as reference, which is 110.1 C/W at 25C, then 25C + Pwr_dissipation*110.1C/W < 150C, where max. Power-dissipation is 1.14W (this power figure is unsustainable for continuous operation).

So my estimation in DC max. power dissipation is approx. 1W for D (SOIC) package.
