Status of the OPA2604AU/2K5, PCN available?

Hello Forum,

I need support concerning the statements of some distributors for electronic component. I asked about the status of the OPAMP OPA2604AU/2K5, the statements I got are not really clear and understandable for me.

Initially the OPAMP OPA2604AU comes from Burr Brown Corporation before the company was acquired from TI in September 2000.

As part from our R&D department in function as hardware developer, I´m designing a new version of a PCB where the OPAMP OPA2604AU/2K5 was used in former PCB designs.
Now the question for me is, can I use the OPAMP for new upcoming PCB designs or is the OPA2604/2K5 obsolete and therefore not recommended for new designs? 
Some distributors I asked told me, the OPAMP OPA2604/2K5 is still available, otherone deny it.

Does anyone has a reliable statement or source about the status of the OPA2604AU/2K5?

If obsolete is there a kind of official report like a PCN available where the status of the OPA2604/2K5 is clearly declared?

    Hi Christian,

    OPA2604 has EOL status, see the link below. However, OPA604, a single op amp package is still Active, and readily available via TI store or distributors. It is possible that some distributors still have OPA2604 in stocks, but it is likely that these are the remnant of the OPA2604s.

    It is suggested that you may use 2 of OPA604s in your design, if it is called out by the requirements. I do not see any scheduled EOL for single package in OPA604 op amp at the moment. I will provide you with an update about the OPA604 op amp's status, after I am speaking to our marketing team. 

    I have confirmed that single op amp package in OPA604 is Active and widely available; and there are No scheduled EOL in this part in the near future.

    Hello Raymond,

    is there a kind of official report like a PCN from Texas Instruments available where the EOL status of OPA2604 is declared?


    An official PCN report would be helpful for me and our purchase department which also responsible and maintain our electronic component database.
    They prefer and rely on more such official reports than trusting statements from the internet and forums...


    The use of two single OPA604 instead of using one dual OPA2604 is not an option for me. On the one hand two OPA604 are more expensive than one OPA2604. On the other hand, I need a pin compatible second source for the dual OPAMP OPA2604 in case that these remnant of the dual OPAMP are also no longer available.


    Please let me know if there is a kind of official report like a PCN from Texas Instruments is available or downloadable?

    I am unable to find PCN in OPA2604, and it is likely occurred prior to 2019, maybe as early as 2017/2018 based on the information in the thread below.

    You might want to consider OPA1642 as a lower-noise low distortion alternative. If more bandwidth is required, consider OPA2156.

    Here are other parts that you may consider that are equivalent to OPA2604 --> OPA2134 and OPA1656.

    thanks for the support and for the information you gave.

    It is a bit of pity that no PCN or official report is available from side of TI...

    By time, I´m going to check your suggested alternatives as pin to pin compatible replacement for the obsolete OPA2604AU.

    I think something will be found.

    We have a cross reference tool in op amp, see the link below. You may find it useful. If you enter any op amp products, it should be able to search and identify equivalent ones in the database, including the performance comparisons.
