OPA2340: Operating Temperature

Part Number: OPA2340
Other Parts Discussed in Thread: OPA2156

Hi,

Good day.

Our customer would like to know the correct operating temperature of the OPA2340.

On the website (ordering info) it says, -40°C to 85°C. While on the datasheet, section 6.1, it states -55°C to 125°C. And on section 6.3, it is -40°C to 125°C.

We would appreciate if you could verify which of this information should be use.

Thank you.

Regards,

Cedrick

  • Hi Cedrick,

Q: We would appreciate if you could verify which of this information should be use.

Yes, the performance specification is tested and published from -40C to 85C, but the ‘operating temperature’ in the recommended operating conditions(ROC) is the range at which the device can be used (OPA2156 is another example of this).

With a light load or lower power rails, the part can operate or is capable to operate from -40C to +125C as ROC (less heat dissipation in the part). It is possible that the performance data operating at a higher temperature may exceed the published data specified between -40C to 85C in the datasheet.

If you have additional questions, please let us know.

    Best,

    Raymond
