1/2 LM358

Other Parts Discussed in Thread: LM358

I'm new to circuits and I came across an Op-Amp with a 1/2 symbol out in front of it and I can't seem to figure out what it means.  The block diagram I have is similar to those shown in the data sheet here (search "1/2" in the pdf, there are many examples).

Any thoughts on it's meaning?
Thanks!

  • Ryan,

The LM358 is a dual operational amplifier. The 8-pin package has two op amps which share common supply and ground pins.

In the application circuits wherever "1/2" is mentioned, it means that any one of the two op amps from the package can be used.

    Hope this helps..
