TLC2272-Q1: What is the different between the part with "4G" and without "4G"?

Part Number: TLC2272-Q1

Hi guys,

what is the different between TLC2272QPWRQ1 and TLC2272QPWRG4Q1?

Regards,

Jon

  • Hi Jon,

There was a period earlier this century when integrated circuits where transitioning from non-green packaging, to green packaging. During that time some customers were not ready for the green packaging because the assembly required new, and different materials. Those customers did not want to receive green devices. Then, there were customers who had transistorized to the green package devices that only wanted them.

TI put a system in place to separately designate the non-green and green devices. The earlier TLC2272-Q1 non-green devices would used the designation QPWRQ1, while the new green devices would use the QPWRG4Q1 designation. Eventually, all of the product was converted to green packaging and there wasn't a need to keep the special G4 designation going.

All of the current product which is green uses the QPWRQ1 designation, and the QPWRG4Q1 is no longer available.

    Regards, Thomas
