Phono-PreAmp. Is there a recommended device for this application

Other Parts Discussed in Thread: LM4562

Phono output signal are very low and need dedicated pre-amplification before going into a "proper amplifier".

This means low voltage input signal, high impedance amp, extremely low distortion...

Is there a specific device for this application?

Has anyone done it before?

Thanks!!

  • Hi Mike,

Perhaps this application is similar to what you're looking for: https://e2e.ti.com/support/audio-group/audio/f/audio-forum/342042/phono-preamp-using-lm4562-and-lsk489

In the app note attached to the linked thread, specifically Figure 7, it covers a phono preamp featuring LM4562.
LM4562 D/S itself features a similar application diagram at bottom of front page.

Similar amplifiers can be considered in place of LM4562 as well, like:

    • OPA164x - High-performance family
    • OPA165x - Ultra-low noise, Low-distortion family
    • OPA167x - Lod-distortion family

Hopefully this helps to better define a path forward for your application, let us know if there are any further questions.
