TAS5827: In HW mode the Mute pin do not work

I have made eval pcb with 2 chips configured as HW mode, mean without I2C control. i got amp up running fine, Audio work fine, but found that i cant get the mute pin(pin 11) to work, when pull it low nothing happens audio still playing. are there something i missed in the datasheet, there are not much explained about this function other than it should stop the output when pulled low, I have added a the schematics I used for this pcb for your ref.ecad-tas5827.pdf

Hello Lars,

Can i see a waveform capture of of the mute pin and the output before the LC filter.

Hello Lars,

Have you done any tests on the EVM prior to creating this board? Want to confirm if this behavior is unique to system or you observe the same behavior on the EVM.

Hello Lars,
are you able to control the PVDD you are driving into the device. If you drop PVDD below 8V can you check Pin 11 and Pin 9.

hi,

what do that have to do with that i can't get mute function to work in hardware mode ?, in my system i use 12V - 24V supply so i will not go below 10V at anytime. of cause i can try this but for what reason ?

reason for me to ask mute question is that its stated in the datasheet that pin 11 is mute and will turn off output and like to use that feature in my design with TAS5827 set in Hardware mode !

Doing this actually want to check the GPIO definition of this device has any problem. There's some history behind it.

Anyway, never mind it. I checked it on the EVM, when drop PVDD below 8V, it's GPIO2 drops, indicates the PD_DET function, not MUTE as datasheet says.

So the real MUTE function is the pin10 GPIO1, as I checked it works fine. I'm sorry for the trouble, and we need to change it quickly.

it will be nice to get the correct pinout for Hardware mode soon

Hi Lars

Fault pin is the final GPIO, we didn't mention. GPIO0, pin 9. The 3 GPIO pin function has some shift among each other, not fully as planed.
