Tool/software:
How much current would you expect the OPA1656 to consume, at idle, with +/-15V supplies?
My customer is testing the outputs are driving loads over 1k ohm, but the parts seem to be getting a little warm. Just want to check if there are any missing considerations in regards to power up or anything else here?
Hi Abigail,
I did the DC validation over temperature for this device. From my validation, the quiescent current over supplies is listed below with the average at 3.9mA typical. This is unloaded because the output voltage sits at mid supply. When driving a load the output current will come from the supply. The device will warm up with heavier and heavier loads. Meaning a 1k load resistor is a heavier load than a 2k resistor.
The Iq is flat across supply voltage on this device.
The theta JA specification can be useful in calculating temperature. We have a training on these calculation in our TIPL series under the topic power and temperature.

I hope this information is helpful. Let me know if I can be of further assistance.

Chris, thank you so much for the quick response - I'm running your information by the customer now
