Tool/software:
Dear,
How mandatory is it to leave SW floating when using an external PVDD?
I ask because our device would use an external 12VDC PVDD when being powered by a 230V AC power supply.
The internal boost converter of TAS2563 would be used only when the device's power is supplied by a USB power supply or working on a LiPo single cell battery.
I have tested this with TAS2563EVM, by first disabling the boost connector using PPC, and afterwards connecting an external PVDD, and did not encounter any issue.
I left the inductor L7 in place.
What is your advice?
If I have to leave SW floating when external PVDD is connected, what are your recommendations to realise it? Just placing p-channel MOSFET in between inductor and SW?
Best Regards,
Kristof Vandenbussche
Hi Kristof,
You should be OK leaving the inductor in place, just make sure to disable the internal boost whenever external PVDD is powering the device.
Disable the internal boost by setting BST_MODE = 11b boost always off and BST_EN = 0b disabled.
