TAS2781: PurePath Console crashes during speaker temperature measurement

Part Number: TAS2781

Tool/software:

Greetings,

I'm attempting to use PurePath Console 3 with the TAS2781 plug-in, but every time I try to measure a speaker, the program crashes while playing the tone to heat up the speaker during temperature measurement. It doesn't matter what values I put in for Xmax and power, it crashes EVERY time.

I was using v3.0.1-beta.20, so I installed v3.2.1, but now it won't go into speaker measurement mode at all, just shows the dummy measurements! Also, it complains when I start it up,

"You have a different version of EVM - supported hardware ID : FWIDTAS2781EVM-REVA

How do I get this thing to do anything useful???

This whole process is an exercise in frustration!!!!

  • I just did a fresh install of v3.2.1 on a different PC, and still get the "different version of EVM" warning, plus there seems to be no way to get it to go into speaker measurement mode.

How do I put this thing back into speaker measurement mode???

  • Hi Douglas,

The v3.2.1 version requires the Smart Amp Learning Board hardware for speaker characterization. So the GUI won't show the characterization tool.In the Beta.20 version we obsoleted the learning board and only the EVM is needed. for your case I think Beta 20 should the version to use.

Can you try a few things to help with the robustness of the of the speaker characterization process?

    • Can you first make sure you have all settings as described in this document?TAS2781_Driver_setup_guide.pdf
    • Can you close any other applications which could be taking control of the EVM? such as media player or DAW software?
    • Can you make sure the USB cable for the EVM is directly connected to the PC? please get rid of any USB hubs or similar.

    Regards,
    Arthur

  • Greetings Arthur,

I tried again with the Beta.20 on a different PC, and got the speaker measurement part to work and not crash, so I guess that solves my immediate issue. The PC that was crashing didn't have anything else running on it and was directly connected via USB, so I'm not sure what the problem was.

    Thanks,
