TAS2563YBGEVM-DC: PPC3 Software can not connect TAS2563 EVM

I am using QFN type amplifier and thus I use different EVM board - I assume that PPC3 tuning tool module associated to my TI account is also QFN -type. 

But I happen to have similar DSBGA  -type amp you are using, purchased it by mistake. For me, with DSBGA type EVM issue is similar than what I described below: I can connect PPC3 tuning tool to my EVM board but I have no sound.

In your case, you seen an issue with I2C.

One thing I notice when looking at your images is that you are using your EVM board in stereo-mode, despite you have mono -setup installed.

Long time users of TAS 2563, has this been working for you before?
There is a new software update for PPC3 Tuning tool, namely v3.3.0 . 
Do you experience any new issues with this new PPC version?

Hi Peng,

Can you test by removing the following jumpers? This is to remove power to U2 and use only 1 of the TAS2563 ICs on the EVM:

• J1 - VBAT2
• J4 - VDD2
• J5 - IOVDD2

Please also share a picture of the jumpers on the PPC3-EVM-MB, the 3 jumpers under the TAS2563-daughter card should be setup like this:

I followed the steps in the document "slau800.pdf" (Page 5, 6, 7) and still cannot connect to the TAS2563 EVM.

Hi Peng,

How much voltage do you apply to VBAT-J12? You should supply only 4.5V to 5V.

In order to make the setup simpler, you can try disconnecting the learning board (green PCB), does that make a difference?

The error you see basically means that the TAS2563 is unreachable through I2C communication, this can be due to a faulty I2C connection, missing power or damage on TAS2563 IC that prevents I2C from working properly.

I add 5.03V to VBAT (J12) of PPC3-EVM-MB, 

The VBAT1 (J10) of TAS2563YBGEVM-DC is 5.02V.

I disconnected PP-SALB2-EVM (green PCB) first, and only connected PPC3-EVM-MB+TAS2563YBGEVM-DC, and the I2C error message still appeared.

It may seem like the TAS2563 on your EVM could've been damaged somehow. By any chance do you have another TAS2563YBGEVM-DC you can test with?

The microphone is not needed.

Did you hear a sound coming out of the speaker during your test?
Can you share captures of the Sound settings, you should select the EVM as your default Playback and Recording device:

Also make sure that both of these are not muted and volume is set to 100%.

Yes, there was sound output from the speaker during the test, but the IV test failed, so I cannot proceed to the next step.

Are you using the same jumper settings as you shared before with this new board?

It seems from your capture that the IV-sense feedback from the EVM is in the wrong format.

Hi Peng,

You may try on a different USB port or a different PC altogether. 

The speaker characterization process can be somewhat unstable in some systems so it may be worth trying different connections.

Are you using the same PPC3-EVM-MB as before when the EVM was most likely damaged?
If using the same one, any chance you can use a different PPC3-EVM-MB as well?

The data feedback from EVM to PC seems to have an incorrect format, so either the device is not being properly configured or the USB controller on PPC3-EVM-MB has incorrect firmware for some reason.
