PCM5252: PCM5252 MiniDSP Programming Framework Support

Part Number: PCM5252
Other Parts Discussed in Thread: PCM5242, PCM5152

Tool/software:

Hi TI,

I'm currently working with the PCM5252 and attempting to program the MiniDSP using PurePath Studio. However, I’m unable to find a specific framework for PCM5252 within the tool. I did find a framework for PCM5242 and tried using it to build a simple DSP program, but the output is not as expected.

Could you please help me identify the correct framework for PCM5252, or confirm whether the PCM5242 framework is compatible?

Looking forward to your support.

Best regards,
Harikrishnan

  • Hello,

The PCM5252 uses Pure Path Studio . I haven't used PPS for years but I think PCM5251 was there  and I believe  you can use PPS for PCM5251 instead. Even PCM5242 should be fine , although PCM5252 having some slightly modified DSP ROM components to support it 'SmartAmp' functionality.

This GUI is very old and is not being  supported  anymore.

    Kind Regards,

    Arash

  • Hello Arash,

Thank you very much for your response.

I understand that PurePath Studio is no longer officially supported. For my application, I am primarily working with basic MiniDSP functions along with the SmartAmp features of the PCM5252.

Could you kindly advise if there is any alternative tool or method (even unofficial) that you would recommend for more reliable MiniDSP programming specific to the PCM5252?

I have tried using the PCM5242 framework in PurePath Studio. While I do get output, the waveform contains some errors, which suggests it may not be fully compatible.

I would appreciate any guidance or suggestions you can offer.

    Best regards,
    Harikrishnan

  • Hello, I assume you are using version PPS  V5.9 . The only thing that I can think of is to send a new  request and  see if you can get V6.0 . I am not sure if V6 is for release but I believe it  has  PCM5152 in its list . If not,  you are limited to use the registers set up mentioned in datasheet which provides you with the default set up for the  minidsp.
