Hello team ,

Can i use TLV320AIC3104 codec with receiver DD45 (headphone output ) .

My codec output impedance is 16 ohm and this receiver has 10 ohm o/p impedance , how to match it ?

Will OPA1622 work as an buffer amplifier for impedance matching ?

Hi Falguni,

Impedance matching is not important in audio designs. As long as the load is higher than the rated load of the amp, it will be fine. This forum post provides a lot of good resources on why impedance matching is not best practice for audio designs.

The DD45 load (not output impedance) is 10ohms, which is too low to support the minimum load of the codec which is 16ohms. The load will draw too much current and you will not be able to reach full dynamic range. You will need a OPA1622 or some other buffer, not for impedance matching, but to drive the lower impedance load than what the codec can support.
