TAD5112: Psuedo-differential output VCOM short protection

Part Number: TAD5112

Hi,

I'm planning to use the device in psuedo differential with external sensing mode, for headphone output. So far as I'm aware the only downside to doing this is the possibility for a ground-referenced device to be plugged in, which would cause a short to ground from the VCOM output.

Do the TAD/TAC5xxx chips have protections for this to prevent damage? And if so is that what the "Virtual Ground Fault" flags are for in the register map?

Thanks

  • Hello Peter,

All our devices have protection to prevent damages to the IC in case of shorts. I beleive the virtual ground fault can detect that. However I will double check and if needed I will  update the post.

    Kind regards.
